Mechanism of action of Q-switched Nd: YAG Laser
In laser toning, Q-switched Nd: YAG laser delivers two wavelengths of light:
- 1064nm with deep penetration ability to boost collagen remodeling and provide anti-aging benefits
- 534 nm to treat hyperpigmentation
The laser treatment works on the principle of selective photo thermolysis i.e. thermal destruction of the targeted chromophores (the melanin of the skin) by inducing sublethal injury to the melanosomes. The fragmented melanocytes are removed through the body’s lymphatic system which helps clear various skin pigmentation disorders. In addition to this action, the laser light also reaches deeper skin layers without causing damage to the superficial skin to promote collagen and elastin production. These skin-building blocks make the skin tighter and treat open pores. The treatment also stimulates cell regeneration to get rid of damaged skin cells and elevates skin hydration.
