What happens during a microdermabrasion treatment?
The procedure of microdermabrasion may vary among the clients. During the treatment, the patient must either lie down or sit in a reclined position. Usually, there is no need for local anesthesia to numb the skin before the treatment. Generally, the procedure takes about 15-30 minutes and involves the following steps:
- The skin expert first cleanses the area to be treated and makes it free of dirt and any make-up or cosmetics.
- Next, the technician makes use of a diamond-tipped wand or sprays aluminum oxide crystals/ water to exfoliate the skin and suction to remove the skin cell debris and used crystals. Once this is done, the skin may feel a little tight and warm.
- Usually, the treatment is said to be over after the application of a soothing moisturizer and sunscreen over the treated skin area. This protects the skin and enhances as well as prolongs the results.
